Located on the island of Maui, Kahului serves as the island's vibrant commercial hub and a gateway to many of its top attractions, offering visitors an exciting blend of local culture, historic sites, and easy access to Maui’s stunning landscapes. The town is a short drive from some of the island’s most striking destinations, including the majestic Haleakalā National Park and the nearby Hana Highway, with its lush rainforests and hidden waterfalls.
Dominica, known as the “Nature Island of the Caribbean,” is a haven for eco-tourists and adventure seekers. Tree-lined avenues, grand architecture, and the imperative to live well defines Bucharest, a bustling city that is rebounding and expanding. In the 1900s, this vibrant Romanian capital was nicknamed "Little Paris" and that jubilant, raise-a-glass spirit carries over to this day.
If summer means the beach to the inhabitants of Greater Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata is most often the beach they are thinking of. Situated on the northern Atlantic coast, 400km from the capital, beaches in this area sprawl for eight km, with sophisticated mansions (reflecting the area's upper-class origins) mingling with the new middle-class resorts. Sea lions keep an eye on the fishing activities around the wharves, and a replica of the grotto of Lourdes is a kitsch paradise.
Cuba is an island nation where history, culture, and natural beauty intertwine in captivating ways. Known for its Spanish colonial architecture, vibrant music, and revolutionary legacy, the country offers a fascinating window into both the Caribbean and Latin American worlds. Havana, with its colorful facades, classic American cars, and lively plazas, embodies Cuba’s charm and resilience, while towns like Trinidad and Cienfuegos showcase UNESCO-listed heritage and a slower pace of life.

Brasília may be a World Heritage Site, but it is only of interest to town planning and architecture students, and those keen to witness the folly of man on a metropolitan scale. It must have looked good on paper, and still looks good in photos, but in the flesh, forget it. Designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, urban planner Lucio Costa, and landscape architect Burle Marx, the city was built in an incredible three years between 1957 and 1960. Unfortunately, the world's most ambitious planned city is designed for automobiles and air-conditioners, not people. Distances are enormous and no-one walks; the sun blazes and there are few trees for shelter. Bureaucrats and politicians are lured to Brasília by 100% salary hikes and big apartments, but as soon as the weekend comes they jet to Rio or São Paulo - anywhere less sterile. The poor, who work in the construction and service industries, were not part of the plan for an inland capital and live in favelas up to 30km outside the city, called 'anti-Brasílias'.
