Maui is a Hawaiian paradise offering an incredible variety of landscapes, experiences, and cultural traditions. Known for its valleys, beaches, and volcanic peaks, Maui attracts visitors who want to immerse themselves in nature and Hawaiian heritage. The island’s crown jewel is Haleakalā National Park, where the massive dormant volcano provides beautiful scenery and unforgettable sunrise views. Visitors can hike through the park or stargaze under one of the clearest night skies in the world.
Sioux Falls is South Dakota’s largest city, located in the southeastern part of the state along the Big Sioux River. The river is central to the city’s landscape, most notably where it passes over a series of pink quartzite ledges at Falls Park. Around the urban area, the terrain opens into the broad prairie of the Great Plains, with farmland and gently rolling countryside extending beyond the city.
Texel is the largest of the Dutch Wadden Islands, located off the northern coast of the Netherlands and separated from the mainland by the Marsdiep Strait. Its landscape combines broad sandy beaches, coastal dunes, salt marshes, grasslands, polders, and small villages. Den Burg is the island’s main settlement, while De Koog is the principal seaside resort.
Known as Sugar City, Lautoka is a tropical destination on the western coast of Fiji. Be sure to take a stroll through the Lautoka Botanical Gardens, or venture just outside of the city to take in the natural beauty of Koroyanitu National Park, a rainforest preserve with spectacular hikes and bird-watching excursions.
Corinna is a small, remote settlement on Tasmania’s west coast, set beside the dark waters of the Pieman River at the southern edge of takayna / Tarkine. Once a gold-mining settlement, it is now centred on a wilderness village surrounded by cool-temperate rainforest, rivers, and rugged country. Corinna has no mobile phone coverage and very limited supplies, giving it a distinctly secluded character.
El Valle de Antón is a mountain town in Panama’s Coclé Province, set within the broad crater of an inactive volcano. Its elevated setting gives the area a cooler climate than much of the surrounding lowlands, while mountains and forested slopes surround the town. Streams, waterfalls, gardens, farms, and wooded areas are found throughout the valley, creating a landscape shaped by volcanic geology and tropical vegetation.
An island in the Iisselmeer until 1957 when it was linked to the mainland by a dike. Its unique houses are painted deep green and built on stilts to protect them against the raging sea.
Other Popular Destinations in Netherlands
Amsterdam
Amsterdam, the 17th century capital of Holland, is often called the "Venice of the North" due to its numerous, boat-navigable canals. Truly rich in history, the oldest part of this populous, multicultural city is Sloten, which dates all the way back to the 9th century.
Rotterdam
If you find yourself in Rotterdam, there's a strong chance you've arrived by water. This popular port city (the second largest in the Netherlands) has gone through an architectural renaissance since World War II, with daring, innovative structures dotting the city (cube houses!) and defining its skyline. Café culture is on the rise here, so grab yourself a table and a cup.
